Frank Thadeus Dougal May 28, 1945 ~ May 14th, 2022 ======================================================= Frank Dougal escaped the craziness of today's political climate on May 14th, 2022, at the age of 76. We often think he did it on purpose to avoid having to live through a Joe Biden Presidency. Frank was a die-hard conservative who not only secured his career as a pharmacist for the VA Hospital by personally contacting the late Arizona Senator Barry Goldwater in the 1970s, but also named one of his beloved cats, Trumpy, after you-know-who. He leaves behind two children, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a brother, and wife of 13 years. Frank grew up in the small Polish town of Three Rivers, Massachusetts. He was a talented athlete and musician in high school and soon became a local superstar. Often, the newspaper would highlight his performances where he still holds many school records to date in both baseball and basketball. He continued his passion for baseball in the mid 1960's by playing a season for a minor league team affiliated with The Houston Colt 45's which is now the Houston Astros. For his love of music, he followed his cultural heritage by joining a polka band in high school and played his clarinet and saxophone on the weekends at the Polka capital of New England, "Pulaski Park." He was also talented piano player. Not only did he entertain those that loved him with his wonderful music, but he was always quick to tell a joke or break the ice' with his off-colored humor or silly antics. While Frank was known to never hold back, his heart became gentler as time went on. Frank always joked that the State of Massachusetts should be renamed, Taxachusetts.' Because of his political beliefs and hatred for snowstorms and sub-freezing weather, he relocated his family to Arizona in the mid-1970's where he worked for the VA Hospital in Phoenix. He continued his passion for polka music by starting a new band called Special Delivery and at the height of their success, produced two albums. Back then you could find Frank jamming out' with his polka buddies at the German Club in downtown Phoenix. Dreading another hot, sweltering Arizona summer, Frank relocated to beautiful Roseburg, Oregon in 1988 and continued his career with the VA Hospital until he retired in 2011. Having left the big city, Frank took up gardening and building radio-controlled airplanes in his spare time. He soon became the master of his own backyard and was actively involved with the Umpqua Valley Modelers Club. He cherished growing fresh sweet peas in his raised garden beds and flying his model airplanes. We all know Frank is now piloting his favorite RC airplane and giving us one last laugh as he throws out his sweet pea shells on the way to clouds. He will be greatly missed. Frank's service will be held on Saturday July 16, 2022 at 11AM, 663 River Bend Road, Roseburg, OR 97470.
