Zoela Smith

Zoela Ferry Smith, aged 93, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026. Born in Ely, Nevada, on July 27, 1932, she was the daughter of Frank E. Hickox and Aletha Hickox.

Zoela worked at the Garden Villa Inn In Roseburg until she retired in 1992. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, appreciating wildlife, and birds, and had a talent for cooking.

Following the death of her husband, Dean Smith, in 1989, Zoela formed a close companionship with Ronald Campbell. Together, they enjoyed travel to Utah and Nevada and valued time spent with family.

Zoela is survived by her children, Walter L. Smith (Patricia) and Carie Smith; her grandchildren, Lindsi Bibler (Del) and Sita Schlosser; her great-grandchild, Riley Hooper; her stepdaughter-in-law, Susan Elizabeth Dean Smith; her step-grandchild, Darcie Boulter (Dwayne); in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Smith; parents, Frank E. Hickox and Aletha Hickox; siblings Lyle, Calvin, and Si (Bill) Hickox; and stepchildren Dean Smith and Ronald Smith.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
