Scott Hall was born in Westfir in 1950 and lived most of his life in Oregon. He spent many of his adult summers in the Cascade Mountains, hiking its trails and summiting its lesser peaks. He backpacked much of the Pacific Crest Trail in Oregon and in Trinity Alps of Northern California. He was fond of fly fishing, of racquetball and enjoyed photography, especially when the subjects were birds.
In 1974 he entered banking, ultimately working for the S&P 500 companies over a 36-year period. Beginning with First Interstate Bank (original), he followed the full path of a bank credit professional, beginning as a "repo man" and ending his career as Chief Lending Officer. At Umpqua Bank, he served as an Executive Vice President for several years. His role was heading up the day-to-day loan operation of the company in all three states where they did business. When he retired in 2009, he and his wife of 47 years, Norma, traveled extensively, visiting 29 countries and six continents.
Together with Norma, he was a longtime supporter of wildlife rehabilitation efforts in Oregon. Additionally, they helped fund the opening of an office of Dogs for Better Lives in Boston in 2021.
He is survived by his wife, Norma, and two sisters, Vicki Bucklin (Jim) of Puget Island, Washington and Darby DeKay (Chuck) of Roseburg, Oregon, along with nine nieces and nephews and their growing families in Idaho and Oregon.
