In Memory of Patrick Joseph Guillen

On July 8th, Patrick Joseph Guillen slipped away in his sleep - exactly the way he always hoped he would - peacefully, gently, and on his own terms.

Patrick lived his life with calloused hands, a generous heart, and an unshakable belief that usefulness was a form of love. If something was broken, he fixed it. If someone was struggling, he showed up. If a small engine sputtered, he had it humming again before anyone else could find the toolbox. He was an all‑around handyman, an avid tinkerer, and a man who could coax life out of anything with a spark plug.

A trucker by trade and a wanderer by nature, Patrick found joy in simple, salt‑air pleasures: crabbing, fishing, boating, and being near the water. He loved turning wrenches, solving problems, and teaching others how to do the same. One of his greatest gifts was patience - the kind that allowed him to teach his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and anyone brave enough to try, how to drive everything from manual beaters to automatic family cars. If it had wheels, he could teach you how to handle it.

Patrick's world revolved around family. He poured his time, his skills, and his heart into his children - Patrick Guillen, Scotty Guillen, Mindy Lewis (preceded him in death), and Lori Yeo - and into every grandchild, nephew, niece, godchild, and friend he claimed as family along the way. His giving nature shaped the people he loved, and he believed deeply in sharing knowledge so others could pay it forward. That was his quiet legacy: usefulness as kindness, skill as service, and love as action.

He will be dearly missed by family near and far, by those who relied on his steady presence, and by all who were lucky enough to be taught, helped, or held up by him.

The family will be planning his Celebration of Life at a later date.

We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to his many wonderful healthcare providers. You made his final days a gentle, loving experience. When our hands could not be there, yours were - and we are deeply thankful for the care, dignity, and compassion you gave him.
