Norma Jean Cook passed away at home at the age of 79. Norma was born in Crawford, Nebraska on November 11, 1932. She graduated from Chadron High School, Chadron State College in Chadron, Nebraska. She received a degree from the University of Nebraska, School of Medicine in Medical Technology. She worked at Sacred Heart Hospital, Mercy Hospital and performed insurance physical examinations. She was a lifetime member of the Oregon State Federation of Garden Clubs. She was Sutherlin Woman of the Year in 1985. She received a 25 year service award from the Sutherlin Chamber of Commerce in 2010. She is survived by her husband Phillip, sons Richard Cook of Salem, Oregon, Ronald and Kathy Cook of Springfield, Oregon and Charles Cook of Sutherlin, Oregon, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Private interment will be held at Valley View Cemetery.
