In Loving Memory of Nellie Rose Richards

Nellie Rose Richards, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026, at the remarkable age of 105.

Nellie was born on March 1, 1921, to William and Ada Melton at her grandmother Ann's home in South Deer Creek, Oregon. She grew up in the South Deer Creek community and graduated from high school before spending a short time in California. After returning to the Roseburg area, she met the love of her life, John "Bud" Richards, at a dance. They were married on December 18, 1941 and began a beautiful journey together that lasted just shy of 73 wonderful years.

Together, Bud and Nellie built a loving home and raised four children: Diana Weekly, Tom Richards, Marty Richards, and Linda Wilson.

after Bud's passing Nellie Rose moved to Riverview Terrace where she met many new friends and enjoyed the daily activities they provided. She lived there until her passing on July 30.

Nellie was a devoted wife and an extraordinary mother whose love and kindness touched generations. She found great joy in playing the piano, and her family will forever cherish the memories of gathering around as she filled their home with music. Her gentle spirit, unwavering love for her family, and deep faith will be remembered always.

She is survived by her four children; 10 grandchildren; along with numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. she was proceeded in death by her siblings, Wilma Hanlin and Charlie Melton, and her much loved grandson Joey Richards.

While her family grieves her passing, they find comfort knowing she has been joyfully reunited with Bud in Heaven.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church. A Celebration of Life will follow from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Saint Joseph's Catholic Church.

Nellie's legacy of faith, love, music, and family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
