Lori Kay Staffield Ayres was born in Roseburg, Oregon on May 29th, 1964, to Gordon and Jean Staffield. She passed away in Eugene, Oregon on December 20th, 2024.
Her former years were spent adventuring in Glide, Oregon until the family moved to Roseburg in 1981, where she finished her senior year at Roseburg High School. After graduation, she used her impeccable mastery of the English language to proof-read at the News Review. She then began working for the law firm of Dan Clark and David Terry in the early 80s where she developed lifelong friendships with her colleagues.
42 years of marriage to David Ayres held many adventures for the couple. They grew a metal fabrication shop from the ground up and created a thriving business that they ran together from 1987 - 2020. Three years after founding Double A Metal, Lori gave birth to a baby girl, Amanda Jean. There the adventures of three began. She shared her love of horses with her daughter and together they rode and cared for their beloved steeds, Cal and Digger.
Alongside horses, Lori enjoyed speeding across the Oregon dunes on her four-wheeler or relaxing in the passenger seat of the Razor Side By Side. Camping on the sand was a favorite getaway with family and friends. Recent years took her east to camp in the Ochoco Mountains where she fell in love with the beauty of the area.
Lori's adventurous spirit soared outside of her home state to explore more of the country and parts of the world. Road trips with her husband allowed her to witness the natural beauty of our national parks including Yellowstone, Zion, and Rushmore. She didn't limit her travels to driving, and explored the highlands of Scotland and the icebergs of Alaska. A daredevil spark in her, lead Lori to experience the exhilaration of flying in a biplane and even skydiving.
Lori never met a stranger as her quick wit and colorful use of the English language attracted anyone with a sense of humor. A sense she shared with her daughter much to her husband's chagrin. The two competed to quote their favorite movie lines back and forth again to her husband's annoyance.
Her inherited sarcasm and sharp tongue delighted all and will be missed.
Lori is survived by her husband David, daughter Amanda, stepson Kyle, father Gordon, siblings Donna, Gary, Mark, and Craig, multiple nieces and nephews, and many friends. She is preceded in death by her mother, Jean.
There will be no services, but to honor her memory, take care of your heart. It's worth it.
