Joyce Mitchell

October 6, 1930 — March 17, 2026

Joyce Mitchell was born October 6, 1930 in Regina, Saskatchewan to Fred & Elsie Seleshanko. She went to meet Jesus on March 17, 2026 at the age of 95.

In the late 1940's she moved with her family that included 1 sister, Jean, and 2 brothers, Clarence and Jimmy, to San Jose, California where she met and married Ray Mitchell on March 11, 1950. They followed her parents to Roseburg, Oregon in the early 1950's where they made their home. She was the mother of 3 children: Gene, Debbie & Don.

She was a homemaker who liked to cook, sew, quilt and garden. Her last project was to make quilts for her 8 great grandchildren which she completed in June 2025.

She was a long-time member of Green Community Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years and spent many hours quilting with other church ladies to raise money for missions.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ray, her parents, sister and 2 brothers. She is survived by her children: Gene and Sue Mitchell, Debbie & Rod Wheeler, and Don and Melanie Mitchell; 6 grandchildren: Christina Mensah, Jeremy Wheeler, Angie McVay, Jenny Mitchell, Laura Parnell and Sarah Mitchell and 8 great grandchildren: Addison, Jada, Jolie, Owen, McKinley, Matty, Kolston and Keaton. She will be missed.

A memorial service is planned for Friday, May 8 at 1:00 pm at Green Community Church, 3777 Carnes Road in Roseburg, Oregon. Wilsons Chapel of the Roses is in charge of arrangements.
