James Alva Stephens

James "Jim" Alva Stephens, age 92, of Myrtle Creek, OR, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at his residence. James was born on September 12, 1924, in Oakland, Oregon, to Alva and Bertha Stephens.

James was drafted his senior year of school into the Army. After his discharge he became a millworker. Jim was a member of the Moose Lodge and the IWA Union. He enjoyed Beavers and 49ers football.

James is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, in 1987; and daughters, Nancy Dee Lethlean in 1983, and Laura Jean Stephens in 2000. He is survived by his daughters, Jessie Chavez, Penny Stephens and Jennie McCurry of Myrtle Creek; and a brother, Herb Stephens of Myrtle Creek. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 22, 2017, from 9 a.m. until noon at Wilson's Chapel of the Rose's. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. at Roseburg Memorial Gardens.
