In Loving Memory of

James Eugene Ogborn Sr.

April 26, 1936 - November 1, 2026

James Eugene Ogborn Sr., age 90, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, a family who loved him dearly, and countless friends whose lives were made better by knowing him.

James was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Above all, he was a family man. He shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Nancy, the love of his life and his best friend. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, adventure, and treasured memories. They especially enjoyed traveling together in their RV with their RV groups, exploring new places, meeting wonderful people, and making memories that would last a lifetime.

James proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 13 years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He answered the call to serve his country with dedication and pride. Following his military service, he dedicated many years of hard work to US West, where he remained until his retirement. He was a hardworking and dedicated man who took pride in providing for his family and doing things his own way.

When he wasn't't working, James could often be found doing what he loved most-fishing, hunting, and enjoying the great outdoors. He also enjoyed wood-working and was a gifted craftsman. He had an adventurous spirit and a love for life that kept him looking forward to the next trip, the next fishing spot, or simply another opportunity to spend time with the people he loved.

Those who knew James would describe him as strong, stubborn, hardworking, generous, adventurous, and deeply loving. He had a way of making connections with people and could always be counted on to enjoy a good conversation. He treasured his friendships and loved visiting with family and friends, sharing stories, and spending time together. His presence, his personality, and his love for those around him will be deeply missed.

James is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Ogborn; his two children, Susan Emmanuil and her husband, Mike Emmanuil, and his son, James Eugene Ogborn Jr.; and his eight grandchildren: Raul Garza Jr. and his family, Sierra Garza, Cody Garza and his wife Lindsey and their family, Serek Garza, Leah Emmanuil and her fiancee Isaac Chapman, Bella Emmanuil, Lexi Emmanuil, and Bradley Garza.

He also leaves behind five great-grandchildren: Leighton Garza, Mason Garza, Brooks Garza, Kenzlie Garza, and Brooklyn Garza, who brought another generation of love and joy to his family.

He is also survived by his brother, Elmer Ogborn and his family; his sister, BJ Anderson and her family; and numerous nieces and nephews. His brother, Keith Ogborn, preceded him in death.

James believed in God, and while he may not have been one to sit in church, he carried his own belief in his heart. We find comfort in knowing that his life, his love, and the memories he leaves behind will continue through the many generations of family who were blessed to know him.

His life was one of service, hard work, adventure, friendship, and, most importantly, love. Though he will be greatly missed, his stories will continue to be told, his favorite memories will be shared, and his legacy will live on in the family he cherished so much.

Heaven has gained another fisherman, and those of us left behind will forever cherish the memories of a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who was truly one of a kind.

Rest easy, Dad. You will always be loved, always be remembered, and forever be missed.

Memorial services will be held at the VA grounds on Thursday November 12th 2026 at 1 PM under the pavilion, followed by a memorial luncheon at St. Paul Lutheran Church 750 W Keady Ct Roseburg, Oregon.
