JAMES ALVA LITTLE 87, of Roseburg, Oregon passed away Sunday, December 21, 2014. He was born September 30, 1927 in Corsicana, Texas to Gertrude and R.A. Little. Jim spent his youth, during the depression, and worked hard the rest of his life to keep from repeating the lean years. He graduated after 11 years and thanks to his twin older brothers, spent a year at Texas A&M. Jim would forever be an Aggie. He joined the US Navy during WW II. He was honorable discharged as a third class Yeoman, a trade that would serve him through life. Upon discharge, Jim took a job in Dallas for Western Battery and Separator. After six years this brought him to Roseburg, Oregon in 1955, where he was manager of Coon Creek Lumber Co. and Webco, Battery Separator and Handle Plant on Garden Valley Blvd. In 1959 those mills were purchased by US Plywood Corp. Plant manager Dick Moore offered Jim a job in the mill and a year later gave him the Personnel Manager position that he held until his retirement with 42 years of service. In 1947, while in the Navy in San Diego, he met and married Grace Denler. They were together 56 years. Survivors include his son Jim; grandson Jim and his wife Kim and family friend Terri Lundquist. Jim was preceded in death by his wife in 2003 and twin brothers Aurther and Virgina and Archie and Billie. There will be no service at his request. Private cremation rites have been held. I would like to thank Director Kim Jordan and all the caring people at Callahan Court who watched over Dad his last 2 years.
