Gerald G. Rooney

Jerry Rooney, age 82, passed away Feb. 16, 2026, at his home in Glide, Oregon. Born on Sept. 13, 1943, in Ridgefield, Washington, Jerry lived a life grounded in hard work, quiet strength and deep appreciation for the outdoors.

He spent 35 dedicated years working for Romtec and worked as a millwright for Roseburg Lumber, earning the respect of coworkers and friends through his skill, reliability and steady character. Jerry found his greatest peace in nature. He loved hunting, fishing and spending time camping with his family. These moments brought him great joy and created lasting memories for those who shared them with him.

Jerry is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years Barbara, his beloved dog Poppi and his parents George and Vivian Rooney. He is survived by his sister Kathy Hensman; his son Jerry Joe (Cindy); his daughter Becki (Brad); his granddaughter Taylor (Brandon); his grandson Travis (Ashley); and his four great-grandchildren Hayden, Hunter, Henley and Sawyer Jean. He is also survived by his loving companion Lan who brought him comfort, companionship and happiness in his later years.

Jerry valued family above all and will be remembered for his sense of humor, his quick wit and his remarkable ability to fix anything. His steady presence, kind heart and quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

There will be a celebration entitled Yeller Time. All are welcome to attend and encouraged to wear camouflage.
