Gerald Donald O'Brien

Gerald Donald O'Brien, age 86, of Roseburg, Oregon passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2025. Jerry was born on October 9, 1938, in Antigo, Wisconsin to Eugene O'Brien and Rose O'Brien (Ellison). At eight years old he moved to Roseburg, where he spent the rest of his life. After graduating from Roseburg High School in 1957, Jerry proudly served four years in the U.S. Army. Following his military service, he worked for many years for Ellison Transportation as a mechanic and charter bus driver. In September 1961, Jerry married Karin Klör, and together they shared 49 years of marriage until her passing in 2010. They raised three children - Gene O'Brien, Jeanne' Hayes and Mike O'Brien.

Jerry is survived by his three children and five grandchildren - Tyler O'Brien, Megan Hayes, Blake Hayes, Sherry O'Brien and Micah O'Brien; as well as two great-grandchildren - Allysyn O'Brien and Braxton O'Brien. He is also survived by his sister Mary Jane Howe, stepbrother Jim Ellison, and stepsister Muriel Butler, along with numerous nieces and nephews, and his partner Norma Benson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jimmy.

Jerry had a passion for travel and classic cars. He especially enjoyed attending car shows and taking pride in his restored 1955 Chevy. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Honor Guard services will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 11:00 am at Roseburg National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at noon at Abby's Pizza Annex, 1661 NE Stephens St., Roseburg.
