Douglas Leonard Martin

Oct 1, 1944 — May 19, 2018

Douglas “Doug” Leonard Martin, age 73, passed away at his home on May 19, 2018, from prostate cancer. Doug was the owner of Doug’s Diesel, Inc., a full service truck shop, new and used truck parts, salvage truck yard and heavy equipment  sales/service. He opened his first shop in Myrtle Creek, OR in 1973.  Then in 1978 he expanded and built a new shop at Round Prairie/Clarks Branch Road.  In 1981, Doug married Glenda Bellinger-Jackson. Together they worked to provide a service to truckers from all over the United States and in the process made some good friendships and business acquaintances. Doug loved being a mechanic and always referred to himself as “just a mechanic”. Doug took great pride in his shop and his mechanics and helpers.  Doug had only one hobby and that was working or building a truck and after adding the heavy equipment to his business a Cat D9 or 345 excavator were added to his list of favorite things to work on or with.  Doug was preceded in death by his Mother, Gladys, his father Eddie, 2 brothers, Jimmy Johnson and Eugene Johnson. Doug is survived by his wife, Glenda, his children; Tamara Robinson (Dennis), Doug Jr. (Sue) of Myrtle Creek, Robert “Bob” Tracy (Becky)of Sutherlin, stepson Randy Jackson (Renee) of Elko, NV.  Doug had 5 grandchildren.  Graveside Services will be held at Roseburg Memorial Gardens on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 2 PM.  Please visit Doug’s web site at www.wilsonschapeloftherosesfh.com to leave condolences or fond memories.
