Dennis Gene Landers

Oct 19, 1954 — Sep 4, 2026

Dennis Gene Landers was called home to the Lord on September 4, 2026. He was born on October 19, 1954, in Biloxi Mississippi, to Louise (Stowe) and Gene Landers. As the son of a United States Air Force serviceman, Dennis spent his childhood travelling and living in various locations across the United States and Japan.

While stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base, the Landers family settled in Santa Barbara, California - the place Dennis always considered home. He cherished his years growing up on base and held dear the memories of days spent on the beach with family and friends from the Santa Barbara area.

Dennis loved his family deeply and found joy in gathering with them for Tri Tip Barbecues, family potluck dinners, and celebrations big and small. He especially enjoyed campouts with family and friends along the coast, fishing trips, cruise ship adventures, and road trips to the mountains and beyond. His life was filled with simple pleasures, shared laughter, and the warmth of togetherness.

Dennis is preceded in death by his sister Peggy Hammel, brother Benn Hammel, and his parents Eugene Monroe Landers and Edna Louise (Stowe) Landers.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Maerie (Bucharelli) Landers; his brothers Tom and Paul Landers; daughters Danielle (Dylan Hall) and Heather Riffel-Duncan (Daniel); sons John Riffel (Davia) and Sonny Garcia (Christy); and his grandchildren Cameron and Patrick Hall, Logan Riffel, Judy, Billy and Cod Fisher, and Diego and Kembry Garcia.

Dennis will be remembered for his kindness, his love of family, and the joy he brought to every gathering. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
