David Jonasson died at home on Oct 10, 2024.

He was born in Portland, Oregon and lived in an orphanage until 1935 when he was adopted by Jonas A. “Steine” Jonasson and Frances (Wright) Jonasson of McMinnville. During World War II his father was in the Army Air Corps stationed in Arizona, California and Virginia, and the family was able to be with him. David graduated from McMinnville High School in 1950.

He worked for the federal Bureau of Public Roads and the Bureau of Land Management on land survey teams, and then worked at a plywood mill in Roseburg until his retirement.

He was a resident of the Roseburg area since the 1960s. He was a long-time member of the First Christian Church of Roseburg.

He was a very loyal member of his extended family, and especially enjoyed a family reunion in Iceland in 2018.

He was predeceased by his wife of 33 years, Nellie Jonasson, in 2015. He is survived by daughter Debra of Roseburg, stepdaughter Loydeen of British Columbia, and brother Frank Jonasson of San Diego.
