Cecelia Dawn Lee, born October 30, 1970 in Brawley, California passed away at the Roseburg VA Medical Center on May 21, 2025. Cecelia was extremely proud of her 18 years of Military Service in the United States Navy.
In 1991, after Bootcamp in Orlando, she was sent to the Naval Technical Training Center in Northwest Florida. There she became an IT Instrumentman, calibrating pressure gauges and other technical devices. Cecelia served on a sub-tender at one point. She also deployed on the USS Yellowstone,USS Emery S Land, USS Bataan and the USS Iwo Jima to name a few.
When the job of Instrumentman was phased out to civilian service, she turned to Meteorology and was sent by the Navy to Weather School in Biloxy, MS, It was there when Cecelia became a weather tech and was involved in briefing the Captain and others in command positions regarding upcoming weather patterns. This was most critical, not only for the ship itself, but for the aviation operating from the ship. This included Cecelia going to the topside of the ship to tale measurements.
She received numerous certificates of commendation for the different disciplines she held, one being a certificate from the Department of Navy reflecting the Secretary of the Navy awarded to her.
In brief, the certificate states: To Aerographer's Mate First Class, Cecelia D Lee, United States Navy, for Professional Achievement as Fleet Forecaster and Routing Technician Supervisor and Section Leader at Atlantic Meteorology and Oceanographic Center, Norfolk, Virginia from July 1999 to July 2004.
Cecelia received the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. It elaborates further what she achieved during this time period. . She received three Good Conduct Awards, an award from the USS Bataan CO in professional skills as an Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist. Among others, she also received a Humanitarian Service Award/Medal for "Direct participation in Hurricane Katrina Relief Operation."
She achieved the rank of Petty Officer First Class during her service
