Taylor Byam Yocom, 90 of Roseburg, passed away Thursday, August 20 at home where he lived for 31 years. Prior to that he and his wife Edna, lived in Toketee, OR., Hornbrook, CA.,and Prospect OR. Taylor was born August 19, 1919 in Wenatchee, WA. to Emmette Rollo Yocom and Anna Marie Karjala Yocom. Taylor graduated from Medford Sr. High School in 1937. He worked summers for COPCO during and after high school. From 1942 -1943 he worked in the shipyards in Oakland, CA. and servered in the Army from 1943-1946 as a Dental Assistant. After the Army he worked for COPCO which was later bought out by Pacific Power & Light He retired from PP&L when he was 64 years old. Taylor married Edna Naef on August 23,1947. They would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. At the age of 16, Taylor made his choice to follow Christ in the mission of Ruby Roach and Kathleen Hutchins and he remained faithful until his death. He loved the outdoors,enjoyed hunting,gardening and reading. Taylor's adventuresome spirit inspired him to take flying lessons in 1946. Taylor is survived by his wife Edna, his daughters Beverly & husband Melvin Holcomb,Scappose,OR & Barbara & husband Bob Williams,Perry GA., five grandchildren Debra & husband Lee Buchanan of Aloha, OR;Stacy & husband David Wood of Battleground, WA.;Michel & husband Daniel Thorsteinson of Portland OR.;Jessica Williams of Atlanta,GA;Kylie Williams of Perry GA.and 5 great-grandchildren, Paige & Megan Buchanan, & Taylor,Amanda, & Connor Wood. Nieces & Nephews, Ruth Ann Hopps, Martha Rhodes, David Knight,Steve Knight,Dan Knight,Bruce Knight, Phil Knight, Stan Knight & Roger Knight and many , many friends. Taylor was preceded in death by his parents, sons Richard Lee Yocom and Robert Mark Yocom, a sister Betty Knight her husband Tony. Special thanks to the many friends and family that have supported Taylor and his family at this time.Wilson's Chapel of the Roses are in charge of the arrangements. The service was Tuesday, August 25 and burial was @ the Roseburg Memorial Gardens in Roseburg. Contribution memorials may be offered to Amedisys Hospice of Roseburg.
