Norman Eugene Graham, 85, died Friday, Dec. 5th, at Mercy Hospital in Roseburg. He was a long term area resident who settled in the area shortly after World War 11. Graham was born Aug 9, 1913 in Cottonwood California. He was the son of Ervin W. and Margaret Graham who relocated the family to the Dunsmuir area in the twenties. He graduated from Dunsmuir High School and then joined the Civilian Conservation Corps, where he worked on the construction of forest road and parks. He then worked for the U.S. Forest Service until the start of WW11 when he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was selected to attend the University of Utah where he was trained as a meterologist. After completing training he was assigned as a weatherman on the Greenland icecap. As a Air Force weatherman Technical Sergeant Graham was responsible for the weather forecasts for the crews flying out of England and Western Europe. After the war he moved to Southern Oregon, settling first in Riddle and later in Canyonville. He was married to Norma Williams of Canyonville on JUly 17, 1949. After her death Graham moved to Roseburg where he was married to Helen Ginder in 1977. He was a certified Western Pine Association lumber grader and was employed in several area mills. He was an avid bow hunter and enjoyed hunting, fishing and hiking. He also worked for the County Park Department in Roseburg. In recent years Graham resided at the Oak Park Assited Living Facility in Roeburg. He is survived by one sister, Ila Graham Jacox of Citrus Heights, CA, and one nephew, Stanley Jacox of St. Petersburg, Russia and four nieces; Janis Jacox, Citrus Heights, CA; Nadine Stover of Dunsmuir, CA; Carol Riccomini of Mt. Shasta, CA; Lois Gumbert of Klamath Falls, OR; and Lynn Smith of Anchorage, AK. Services will be held at 1 P. M. Friday, Dec. 19th at the Chapel of the Roses with interment at the Chapel of the Roses Memorial Park.
