"FRENCHY" Passed away peacefully on January 25, 2011 at his home in Roseburg. He was born on October 2, 1934 in Garthby-Beaulac, Canada to Yvonne & Edouard Grenier. He was the youngest of 16 children, 6 of whom have survived him. Frances Desrochers of Roseburg; Renee Grenier & Renaude Hatsedakis of Salem; Charlotte deMontigny and Suzanne Grenier of Arizona; Pierette and husband Leon Goddette of Georgia. He is also survived by his three children: Paula-Jean Carr of Raynham, MA; Michele Grenier of Hayward, CA; and Daniel Grenier of Roseburg. Also four grandchildren: Rebecca and husband Jeramie Johnson of Roseburg; Diana Grenier of Green; Alyssa Grenier of Winston; and Samantha Carr of Raynham, MA; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his close friends from Ten Down bowling, too many to list but each very dear to his heart. He will be missed greatly. Through his entire life, "Frenchy" loved helping people any way he could and always with a smile. He loved sports of all kinds and played Hockey as a teen. In his 20's he started bowling and was always in a league eventually achieving several perfect scores of 300 and receiving recognition for this from the American Bowling Congress. He was the league coordinator for Ten Down bowling leagues where he spent much of his time these last years. His first love was fishing whether it be at a lake, river or ocean. His favorite fishing places were Diamond Lake in Oregon and the Tuolumme River in CA. He also enjoyed camping with his family and friends always looking for out of the way places where he could be alone with nature. He loved the Oakland Raiders, shooting pool and playing ping pong both of which he was always taking home the trophy. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and continued in the National Guard Reserves as a Master Sergeant until retiring in Roseburg, OR where he spent the last 20 years. He also managed an auto service station in the 1960's and later became a licensed electrician. A mass in his honor will take place on Friday, February 4, 2011 at 12:00 Noon at St Josephs Catholic Church, 800 W Stanton St. in Roseburg. On Saturday February 5, 2011, there will be a Celebration of his Life at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses, 965 W. Harvard Blvd Roseburg starting at 12:30 p.m. and a reception will follow immediately after at Ten Down Bowling & Entertainment at 2400 NE Diamond Lake Blvd in Roseburg. He is being cremated and a private interment will take place on Monday February, 7, 2011 with the family.
